Fitness all began with me when I was an over-weight teenager and simply wanted to be able to wear the same clothes that my friends did. At that time, Lane Bryant and fashionable plus size stores did not exist, so wearing clothes that my mom wore was the solution. One Christmas my mom bought me a treadmill where I placed it in our basement, in front of a t.v. and began walking for 20 minutes a day, watching one of my favorite shows. It was brutal at first. Once I began my journey, the walking turned into jogging then running. I fell in love with running and saw quick results.
Once I believed that I was ready to challenge myself a bit, I fell in love with Billy Blank’s Tae-Bo. I turned my basement into a gym, with cardio machines on one side and weight lifting equipment on the other. I ran and did Tae-Bo religiously. My body had transformed from a size 18, weighing at my heaviest, 210 lbs to a size 4 and weighing at 120 lbs. Fitness became part of my everyday lifestyle.
I’ve been working out for 20 years. I’ve had the privilege of studying martial arts,Toshindo Karate, Cardio Kickboxing and Krav Maga, which is Israeli Military Self-Defense, ran the New York City Marathon twice, my best time being 3:43. I’ve also practiced Bikram Yoga for 5 years and am passionate about boxing and boot camp classes.
I continue to work-out today, always trying new things like Zumba and Piyo. My goal is to live a long and healthy life where I can be strong and continue to have great endurance and agility no matter how old I get. My goal as a trainer and instructor is to inspire others to achieve their goal of wellness.
